According to the 2027 (Republic of China Year 116) official calendar for government agencies released by the Directorate-General of Personnel Administration, Executive Yuan, the total number of holidays throughout the year is 121 days. Among these, nine consecutive holidays last three days or more. This is crucial information for those planning domestic or international trips, or for friends eager to secure early bird specials. This calendar also serves as an excellent reference for international visitors. To experience a relaxing journey in Taiwan, avoiding these peak holiday crowds will be the optimal choice.

Early Planning Tips for Travelers from Taiwan|

For Taiwanese travelers who value high-quality journeys, Jolley Hotel recommends making the most of these long weekends for in-depth travel experiences. Since the Dragon Boat Festival and Mid-Autumn Festival in 2027 both fall on Wednesdays with no adjusted holidays, other long weekends are expected to become peak travel periods for domestic travelers. While long holidays naturally bring crowds, those who plan ahead can secure early-bird deals and minimize travel costs. Whether you are planning to fly to Japan or Korea in search of snow, or stay in Taiwan to feel the warmth of the land, now is the golden moment to start planning and secure your place!

Summer Escape & Crowd-Free Travel Guide for International Travelers|

If international travelers are planning a trip to Taiwan in 2027, Jolley Hotel recommends avoiding the nine major long-holiday periods listed above. In particular, during the Lunar New Year, transportation networks and popular attractions across Taiwan become extremely crowded. Many distinctive local restaurants may also close for the holiday, while accommodation prices rise significantly. To enjoy a higher-quality travel experience, we recommend the following three “insider travel periods.”

Mid to Late March: A Time to Converse with Yourself Amid Spring Blossoms

Imagine the air in March—cool, yet gently warmed by the approaching spring. Peace Memorial Day has just passed, while the Tomb-Sweeping Day is still ahead, creating one of Taiwan’s most comfortable travel windows. This is the perfect time to visit Alishan, where soft pink cherry blossoms fall like rain, or to wander along the trails of Yangmingshan, breathing in the fresh scent of budding greenery. At this time of year, Taiwan carries a quiet, undisturbed sense of tenderness.

Late May: A Poetic Elegy of a Rain-Kissed Mountain City

At the end of May, the bustle of Labor Day has already faded. Although occasional light plum rains may arrive, this is precisely the ideal moment to experience Taiwan’s cultural and humanistic atmosphere. Step into the National Palace Museum and face millennia-old artifacts in tranquil galleries, or head to Jiufen and settle into a teahouse overlooking the sea. As the distant ocean fades in and out beneath mist and rain, sip a cup of Taiwan’s high-mountain tea. This sense of “stealing a half-day of leisure” is a quiet serenity you will never find during peak holiday periods.

The Entire Month of November: A Short Autumn Getaway in Taipei (Jolley’s Personal Favorite!)

If there is only one month to recommend, Jolley would say without hesitation: “Come to Taipei in November.” There are no national long holidays during this month, and the weather is pleasantly autumnal—sunny, bright, yet gentle and never harsh.

• A Golden Dreamscape: Head to Yangmingshan to witness fields of silver grass swaying across the mountains, forming golden waves in the wind.
• Soothing Warmth: Visit Beitou or Wulai and let the gentle hot springs wash away all fatigue.
• A Tapestry of Time: Stroll through the historic streets of Dadaocheng, where century-old architecture blends with contemporary creativity; then step into the vibrant Xinyi District and feel the city's pulse amid its refined autumn cityscape.

Start planning early with Jolley, and your 2027 self will thank you for the version of you who chose to prepare in advance. Whether you aim to save on budget or elevate your travel experience to a higher standard, having first-hand information is always your most powerful advantage.

Have you already decided where your first destination in 2027 will be? Share this time-off guide with someone you’d like to travel with, and let’s look forward to the next adventure together!
